Gather everything before you start

Take Samples — BUDS ONLY
Cut tiny pieces from multiple sites

⚠️ BUDS ONLY. Check trichomes on calyxes, NOT sugar leaves. Leaves amber faster and will mislead you into harvesting too early. Check multiple bud sites — tops ripen 3–7 days before lowers.

Cut a tiny bud piece from each position (pea-sized is enough)

Place each sample next to its label on a flat surface

Check Trichomes
Scope each sample and photograph

Place bud on flat, high-contrast surface (white paper works)
✓
Zoom scope directly onto trichome heads (the mushroom-shaped caps)
✓
Save a clear, in-focus photo of each sample
✓
Compare to previous checks — are they progressing toward milky/amber?
